A traditional stone E-shaped Elizabethan mansion, built in 1557 with an impressive aspect and towering mullioned and transomed windows in the Great Hall. An excellent collection of portraits of English Tudor and Stuart monarchs and their courts, plus some of their European contemporaries.

Features: The fishpond and deer park predate the Tudor house, while the pleasure gardens are 18th century.

Visitor Opening Times

2017: 16 Apr-29 Oct. Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sun & BH – except 11 & 12 May when the property is closed. Throughout Oct, Suns only. On open days: Gardens & Big Kitchen Restaurant: 12pm-5pm. House: 2pm-5pm, last admission 4.30pm.

Parham is a private estate in a beautiful setting at the foot of the South Downs. The traditional stone Elizabethan mansion, built in 1577, has an excellent collection of portraits of English Tudor and Stuart monarchs and their courts, and is accompanied by 18th century pleasure gardens. Parham has been open to seasonal visitors since 1948, and is described as a place of tranquility and timeless beauty that has changed little over the centuries.

Groups and special visits

Home to Lady Emma Barnard and her family, this peaceful Elizabethan house containing an important collection of early paintings, furniture and needlework , is in the middle of a medieval park. There are 11 acres of award-winning gardens. Please apply in writing.
