Kemsing, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN15 6NL

A historic mansion house, St Clere was built around 1630. Owned at one time by Thomas Boleyn, it is said that Henry VIII visited St Clere during his courtship with Anne Boleyn. It has also been owned by Montagu Norman, who was a former Governor of the Bank of England and the first Chairman of the BBC. The estate comprises 2500 acres of glorious Kentish countryside and exudes peace despite being so close to London, with Kentish rural charm and impressive Caroline period architecture. There are beautiful gardens with formal terraces, borders and a kitchen garden. The estate also features a swimming pool, tennis courts and a squash court, as well as numerous outbuildings which provide informal settings. Attractive cottages are also owned by St Clere, along with farm buildings, a beautiful lake and woodland with the North Downs Way crossing it.

At Heverham, near Sevenoaks. Not far from London and less than 10 minutes from the M25.

Film Locations

A classical, quintessentially English location. From the main house there are views to the south of a small temple overlooking a picturesque lake.

In 1980, St Clere starred alongside Elizabeth Taylor, Tony Curtis, Geraldine Chaplin, Angela Lansbury, Rock Hudson and others in the film “The Mirror Crack’d”

“St Clere, with its beautiful buildings and stunning setting, provided the perfect filming location for us. The whole Estate offers great variety for filming and I was extremely pleased with the results we achieved”. (Michael Wood – Producer, Attaboy TV Ltd)

Recently, the estate has been working with the local Shakespeare Society to arrange performances within the estate grounds, with the first production (Romeo and Juliet) in early summer 2012.
