Temple Newsam House & Estate is one of the great country houses of England. Set within over 1500 acres of parkland, woodland and farmland landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century, it is a magnificent Tudor-Jacobean mansion. Famous as the birthplace of Lord Darnley, the mansion houses a rich collection of art in over 40 restored rooms to view. The grounds boast the largest working rare breeds farm in Europe and National Collections of plants and flowers.

Visitor Opening Times

House
Summer : 10.30am-5pm Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays except bank holidays & occasional events.

Winter : Farm only, 10.30am-4pm Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays (except Bank Holidays & occasional events), Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Visits to the house by appointment only.

Tea Room :
Open every day in summer, closed on Mondays in Winter. There is seating for 80 people inside, with additional tables outside.
