The Successor membership, known as the Successors' Group, reflects the core purpose of the HHA which is to ensure the continuity of ownership of these historic properties and their associated contents.

The Successors' Group, now over 220 strong, is concerned with all manner of issues ranging from crucial aspects of taxation to the legal implications of succession and the everyday management of an historic house and country estate.

A programme of activities for the Group is organised by a Successors' Committee to bring successors together to share experience and knowledge.

Seminars on topical subjects at the offices of Farrer & Co in London are complemented by an annual reception, which in 2010 was again generously hosted by Hoare & Co.
