HHA President & Officers
President: James Birch
James Birch became HHA President in November 2016. He had previously been Deputy President and Honorary Treasurer. James and his wife Claire live at Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire, a late Elizabethan house by Robert Smythson. Since taking over Doddington in 2007 they have added four shops and extensive catering facilities for visitors. Employment on the estate has grown from 20 to over 100. James had previously worked in finance and Claire in advertising.
Deputy President: Martha Lytton-Cobbold
With her husband Henry, Martha has run the leisure management and estate businesses at Knebworth Park since 2000, driving the extension of the conference and banqueting facilities, and increasing the rent roll through diversification and renovation of redundant underperforming areas. The diverse portfolio of activities include the award-winning education programme, concerts and festivals, film location work, corporate events, weddings and day visitors, all of which contribute to the restoration and maintenance of Knebworth House, a Grade II* Tudor house with a Victorian Gothic façade, the historic deer park and estate. Martha is co-chair of the DMO Visit Herts, and has worked in tourism, catering, and leisure since 1993, prior to this in the publishing and advertising industry.
Honorary Treasurer: William Parente
William and his wife Alison have restored Welbeck
Abbey and extensively diversified the estate with, among other things,
the Harley Gallery, open to the public, and the School of Artisan Food.
Prior to moving to Welbeck William worked in film finance and latterly,
film production. He is a former High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire.
