A fantastic medley of towers, turrets, heraldic beasts and battlements resulting from the Bulwer-Lyttons' gothic cloaking of the Tudor mansion of 1492. The interiors, including the fantastical State Drawing Room, were remodelled at the same time by the Victorian decorator, John Crace. The Great Hall contains surviving and important 17th century panelling. Memorabilia and collections of the novelist, Edward Bulwer-Lytton, and of Lord Lytton, Viceroy of India.
