Borde Hill House was built by Stephen Borde n 1493. Stephenson Robert Clarke bought the House in 1893 and extended it and created the Garden. He planted the Garden with trees & shrubs brought back by the great plant collectors in the early 1900's. The Garden, set in 200 acres of parkland affords panoramic views over the North Weald AONB, is Grade II* listed by English Heritage and appeals to visitors of all ages. Spring is heralded by magnificent magnolias, rhododendron and azaleas, blending into summer with fragrant roses and herbaceous plants, developing into rich autumn borders before winter's architectural splendour. Distinctive formal \"garden rooms\", such as the Rose & Italian Garden, combine with informal areas like the Azalea Ring, Garden of Allah and Round Dell. Woodland paths and lakeside walks to explore. Jeremy's restaurant at Borde Hill can provide a complete Wedding Reception package and make all the arrangements for you, either located within the restaurant or in a marquee within the secluded and private Walled Garden. Alternatively you can plan your own Wedding Reception using a marquee and caterers of your choice either within Borde Hill Garden on the Azalea Ring or within the Parkland.
