Finchcocks is a fine early Georgian manor in a beautiful unspoilt setting. It is noted for its outstanding brickwork, with a dramatic front elevation attriubted to Thomas Archer. Named after the family who lived on the site in the 13th century, the present house was built in 1725. The 13 Acres of grounds include parkland to the front. The garden to the rear is fully restored, with wide lawns, mature shrub borders, an orchard for wild flowers and a beautiful walled garden.
Finchcocks is open to the public from the beginning of April to the end of September:

Finchcocks has been used for many documentary programmes on the museum. Recent television includes 'Flog It' & 'Play it again'. Dawn French & Jennifer Saunders filmed a satire on Jane Austen films here. Instruments from the collection have featured in 'Pride & Prejudice', 'Sense & Sensibility', 'Emma', 'Vanity Fair' and many other films.
Finchcocks has a lively educational programme which includes special visits for schools with opportunity to play the instruments. There are regular concerts given by children, & courses and workshops for students & teachers on musical and technical themes, such as tuning and restoration.
