A rugged border castle of the 14th century consisting of a great Pele tower with corner turrets added to later in the 1620's and more comfortable lodgings which were themselves altered in the mid-18th century. Mid-19th century dining room furniture by Mein of Kelso.
Features: Formal and informal gardens - one walled garden is used as a nursery for unusual perennial plants.
Castle: 1-28 Jun, 2-5pm daily (last tour at 4.30pm). Tours by arrangement at other times. Castle Gardens & Nursery: Easter-31 Aug, Thur-Sun & BH Mons, 10am-5pm.
