Georgian country house in brick, one substantial wing of a larger house which suffered fire in 1902. The reduced space now accentuates the richness of the interiors which include collections from Arlington House in London. The Dukes of Grafton are descended from Charles II, and the collection of royal Stuart portraits here is rivalled only at Windsor Castle.
Features: Pleasure grounds laid out by John Evelyn and William Kent - with lakes by 'Capability' Brown. Buildings include the octagonal Temple, the Wren-style parish church and a watermill.
16 June- 15 Sept. Thurs only. Also 7 August & 4 Sept: 2:30-5pm
