Site dating from Saxon times, rebuilt in the 15th century and then occupied in the 16th by Sir Thomas Seymour, who married Henry VIII's widow, Queen Catharine Parr - who is buried in the castle church. Interiors restored in the 19th century display paintings and items connected with the castle's history. The vast banqueting hall exists in ruined splendour.
Features: Lady Ashcombe's outstanding gardens include the restored Tudor Rose Garden as well as Rosemary Verey's Secret Garden.
