Combermere Abbey, originally a Cistercian Monastery dating from 1133, was most recently modelled in 1820 in the Gothic style. Home to the Cotton (Combermere) and Crossley families, it is still a private family house. 10 holiday cottages and a wedding business operate from the restored historic buildings and the estate runs an organic farming operation. The general public is welcomed for specific events and tour dates, with details available on the website. We are situated between Chester and Shrewsbury and our closest towns are Whitchurch, Shropshire and Nantwich, Cheshire. The welsh border is only 5 miles away.
