This Grade I-listed Jacobean manor house, with its distinctive silhouette of diamond-plan chimney stacks rising above a steep pitched and gabled roofline, has been occupied continuously by members of the Nelthorpe family ever since it was built in around 1605.
This family-sized gem contains an impressive collection of family portraits by George Stubbs and Sir Thomas Lawrence, as well as a stunning early candle-lit painting by Joseph Wright of Derby. There are also fine examples of Georgian and Regency furniture and an extensive collection of quality English and oriental porcelain.
Other features include a Victorian walled garden, some three acres in area, and a produce shop selling seasonal fruit, vegetables and plants from the garden.
