Fawley Manor is a listed grade 11* Jacobean manor house of 1614 with connections to Charles I who had headquarters here in the Civil War. Now fully restored and retaining many original features it is surrounded by large lawns and yew gardens. It is set amidst beautiful downland and enjoys absolute quiet and spectacular views.
Fawley Manor is robust and imposing reached by a shaped beech drive and entered through a cobbled courtyard with piers and pinnacles clad in espaliered fruit trees. The house has a massive oak staircase, great hall with screens passage and a carved oak panelled great chamber with early English and continental furniture and paintings. The gardens are formal and include large lawns with clipped yew hedges and box, lavender and roses and a small pond. There are paddocks with horses and sheep; woodland with red kites and owls; bantams dogs and a cat; a granary, stables and barns. Grand, intimate, shabby chic, smart mysterious, welcoming, we are set in deepest country, yet just over an hour from London on the M4.
