In a mid Wales setting of breathtaking beauty, history and romance, The Hall and its 12 landscaped acres overlook the ruins of the 12th century Cisterian 'Abbey of the Long Valley' in which Llewellyn the Last is buried and the church. It is Grade II* listed as one of Wales' finest examples of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture.
Having spent nine years restoring the house and gardens, the owners now personally conduct unique tours of all 52 rooms, each of which contain their original features. In the formal reception rooms and bedrooms these include 14 marble fireplaces, rococco and stained glass ceilings, gothic windows and shutters and a Minton Hollins tiled floor. In the former domestic rooms, features include 10 further iron fireplaces, original slate slab surfaces and vaulted cellar ceilings.
The house bursts with interior design ideas including images hand-painted onto existing wallpapers, bathrooms themed to trains & castles and the 1930s, the Arthurian room, and the eclectic Garden Room. Overall collections include clocks and phonographs, signs and packaging, kitchen memorabilia and children's books, china and vehicles and a great deal more.
The gardens (also listed) include a romantic walled garden, a lake and a waterfall, sweeping lawns and terraces, 4 courtyards and some particularly fine mixed woodland.
The cost of a tour includes a guided tour of all 52 rooms of the House by a family member. Visitors also have free access to the 12 acres of gardens and grounds.
The Hall has themed decoration in all 52 rooms for Xmas (from Nov 1st-Jan 6th each year), Valentines and Easter- a remarkable spectacle. | Tailor Made Facilities | | Visits to House | Yes | | Visits to Garden | Yes | | Other Events | Yes | | Light Refreshments | Yes | | Lunch | Yes | | Dinner | Yes |
