An unusual, early-Italianate palazzo designed by John Webb (a pupil of Inigo Jones) in 1654, extended by Francis Smith of Warwick circa 1732 for the Ishams, one of the county's oldest landed families. Later work by Burn, 1860's. Outstanding collection of books, paintings, furniture and porcelain.
Features: Victorian Alpine rockery is home to the earliest garden gnomes in Britain. Spacious wooded park.
Easter Sunday-14 October guided house tours 2.15 & 3pm Wednesday & Thursday & non guided tours 2-5pm (last admission 4pm) Bank Holiday Sundays/Mondays & 19-20 May & 13-14 October. Guided garden tours 1st Wednesday of the Month & Bank Holiday Mondays at 2.05pm & 3.30pm. Private tours at other times by prior arrangement.
