Whilst in the ownership of the Duke of Lauderdale, Brunstane was extended and remodelled in the 17th century by Sir William Bruce, also architect to Holyrood Palace. The interior contains some fine panelling and ornate plasterwork as well as the first sash windows in Scotland.

Bed & Breakfast accommodation in the house itself with pre-booked set dinner a possibility. Three double bedrooms on second floor but only one guest bathroom so best suited to a family. Spiral stone staircase so not suitable for disabled.
Incredibly easy to get to from the centre of Edinburgh on new urban railway line with new station at the end of the drive. Waverley to Brunstane Station, one stop, 7 minute journey time, every half hour, no trains on Sundays. 7 minute walk along drive.
Or frequent bus service from Princes Street to Brunstane Road South then 10 minute walk.
