Important Scottish Palladian house by William Adam, begun in 1726. Elegant central block balanced by flanking pavilions. The fine external finish is complimented by the excellence of the early baroque stucco work by the Dutch craftsman, Joseph Enzer. Family portraits include those by Ramsay and Raeburn.
Features: This park is of particular interest, as Adam redesigned it when he built the house.
May & June: Tuesdays & Wednesdays; 1 July–12 September: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Sundays, guided tours at 2pm & 3.30pm. Pre-arranged groups (10–50) accepted all year.
