A curious triangular building using 2-inch thick bricks, erected by the same family which built Longford Castle, also triangular. Begun in 1609 as a hunting lodge, it points outwards like a figure 'Y' and has 18th century extensions added to the 'Y' wings, thus accentuating its outstretched profile.

Newhouse Estate is made up of 1,300 acres of beautiful parkland and woodland. There are a host of locations internally and externally for both still and film shooting.
The Grade I listed Jacobean Manor house contains - amongst others - two very large rooms. The ballroom and dining room are both sizeable and very adaptable for filming purposes. The Library, although smaller in size, is wonderful in design and still has its original early 17th century fireplace. Externally the views looking from a distance towards the house are stunning and in addition to the parkland, there is a beautiful lime and cheery tree lined avenue, country tracks, woodland, estate cottages, tennis court and follies.
Newhouse is not new to filming and has been used in the recent past for the setting of a Ruth Rendell Mystery 'Kissing the Gunners Daughter' and for 3 or 4 years was home to the filming of 'Dogs with Dunbar'.
Civil Ceremony and Wedding Receptions.
Newhouse has been hosting weddings for the last twenty five years. Only one booking per week is taken and when booking, you are encouraged to visit, bring friends and discuss arrangements as often as you wish. Thee rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies accommodating, 10, 40 or 120 guests.
The ballroom with its elegant lighting and antique mirrors will seat a maximum of 102 guests for a wedding breakfast and smaller parties may consider the intimacy of the panelled dining room, seating 20. For parties wishing to dance in the evening, we provide a modern marquee connected to the house itself. Larger marquees can also be arranged for parties wishing a seated meal and whose numbers are in excess of 102 guests.
Newhouse provides a myriad of photographic opportunities. The oak staircase is prefect for family group shots and externally, the surrounding parkland provides endless choice. There is plenty of good quality local accommodation which we are always pleased to recommend.
