Outstanding Edwardian garden: Italianate with colonnades, terraces, cloisters, an open-fronted casita, statues and ponds above river. Harold Peto lived here from 1899 until his death in 1933; skilful planting in William Robinson style combines with countryside. Japanese garden restoration and improving the 18th century woodland walks are planned.
1998 HHA/Christies Garden of the Year Award joint winner.
